A native of Yancey County, Lety Martinez has served as the Family Advocate at Toe River Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) since 2024.
Ms. Martinez works directly with children and their caregivers, ensuring they receive trauma-informed care and access to comprehensive support services. She is dedicated to guiding families through the CAC process and helping them navigate the complexities of the criminal justice and social services systems.
Before joining the CAC, Ms. Martinez worked closely with local law enforcement and the Yancey County Department of Social Services, gaining valuable experience in child welfare and advocacy. She has also served her community as a professional Spanish interpreter and community health ambassador, with a strong passion for language access and cultural competence.
Outside of work, Ms. Martinez is an avid dog lover with three pups of her own and provides dog boarding services for families in Mitchell and Yancey counties. She also cherishes time with her family and is an active member of her church community, serving on the praise and worship team.
