Krissi Brackeen is deeply committed to advocating for and empowering child victims of abuse. With over two decades of experience, she has been a dedicated member of the Toe River Children’s Advocacy Center since 2017.

Driven by a mission to break the cycle of trauma and abuse, Krissi is passionate about ensuring every child has a voice. As a specialist in forensic interviewing, she provides critical support to families with empathy and diligence. Her extensive training includes certifications from the National Children’s Advocacy Center, the RADAR (Recognizing Abuse Disclosures and Responding) Child Forensic Interview Model, and RADAR Jr. She is also a certified facilitator for Darkness to Light: Stewards of Children.

Krissi earned her Bachelor of Social Work, cum laude, from Appalachian State University in 2003 and her Master of Social Work – Advanced Standing Child Welfare Scholar from East Carolina University in 2008, graduating with distinction from both institutions. While at ECU, she was an active member of the North Carolina Child Welfare Education Collaborative (NC-CWEC).

Outside of work, Krissi is deeply rooted in her faith and actively involved in her church community, serving on various ministry teams, including children’s ministry. She enjoys spending time outdoors and cherishes moments with her family, friends, and beloved pets.
